“Hochu k Meladze” (“I want to Meladze”) format is sold to China
In the beginning of December, 2015 Studio Kvartal 95 signed contract with Chinese partners about sale of entertaining musical reality show “Hochu k Meladze” format. That was a result of negotiations that started in October in Cannes during the greatest international market of audiovisual content MIPCOM. The format was created and produced by Production Company of Alan Badoyev Gaudi Studio together with Studio Kvartal 95.
“Hochu k Meladze” project was represented in Ukraine, Russia, Kazakhstan and Belarus.
The concept includes famous and authoritative producer who forms new boys band composition. Young and talented musicians try their hand fighting for a ticket to big stage. A music band will be promoted by famous producer. Casting is hold with competent jury – show-business stars.
According to the rules, only female part of jury can see a contestant. Using earphones they judge the look and the executive style. Vocal is estimated by male jury sitting behind the wall without seeing participants. If three of six judges press their arm, the wall will turn and a contestant will hear producer's verdict. Lucky guys are sorted out to three teams. They are to create performances on their own, costumes and choreography in particular. A judge is a mentor of each team.
Only two best boys bands get to the final. The winner is chosen by SMS-voting. This band is to sign a contract with famous producer.
Format is expected to consist of 12 episodes. Time-study of each episode is 90 minutes. Vladimir Zelensky, CEO and founder of Studio Kvartal 95, comments: “Sale of our joined format with Gaudi Studio “Hochu k Meladze” to China is one more step of our company to mastering international market! That is good deal, especially when it's about such closed for international TV shows and formats market. Nevertheless, we're still glad last year our “Rassmeshy komika” (“Make the Comedian Laugh”) was successfully embodied in China, and now audience will meet one more Ukrainian entertaining show.”
One of format founders Alan Badoyev says: “Our format is unique because we talk about the reality of show-business and we become a platform for young talents to start their career. China is huge market, where musical industry is developing quickly, that's why we expect our format to take the lead.”
We remind you, it is second format of Studio Kvartal 95 that Chinese TV industry representatives are interested in. Before this in 2014 in China “Rassmehy komika” was successfully embodied. Production Company Shixi Media made a project for Chinese channel Jiangxi.
