Stepan (Sergey) Kazanin, actor, anchorman

Dossier: Stepan (but, frankly speaking, Sergey) Kazanin was lead to ‘Kvartal 95’ company traditionally by KVN. He played for ‘Tambovskie volky’ (‘Tambov Wolfs’) team winning Tefi, the most prestigious Russian TV trophy, for creating a project about motherland history. In 2003 Stepan was invited to ‘Kvartal 95’. This year a studio based on KVN team was founded. Stepan at once became its part and parcel participating in “Vecherniy Kvartal” (“Kvartal in the evening”), “Vecherny Kyiv” (Kyiv in the evening”), “Liga smeha” (“The laugh league”), ‘Kak kazaki’ (‘Like kazaks did’) ‘1+1 doma’ (‘1+1 at home’) etc.

For two years Stepan`d been working as anchorman on morning show ‘Podyom’ (Wake up’) of Ukrainian Noviy Kanal. In 2010 he was emcee of sensational extreme show ‘Ukrainian Cities Battle’ (a project realized according to International TV format ‘Wipeout’). Also Stepan shot in full movies ‘8 Best Dates’, ‘Servant of the people’, ‘Love in big city 3’ and others.

Biography: Stepan (but he`s Sergey in passport) Kazanin comes from Nadym, Tumen` oblast` (Russia). He was born on 19th of December 1974. At school he differed with his bad behavior, although it was he who organized school KVN team. At University he studied firstly engineering, then economics. But he was truly addicted to the stage.

Why such a confusion with a name? A student he once in jest introduced himself as Stepan, but an alias hangs on him to this day. Stepan, or Sergey, has bouncy personality, he`s the main ‘Kvartal’ ringleader and sole of company. He bravely calls himself everyday lightning-conductor with his disability to see or hear any quarrels. Kazanin is a big hunting and fishing fan because of an opportunity to feel completely calm. Since 1993 Stepan`s been married Natalia, together they bring up two children, Stepan and Pyotr.
